Funding

The Texas Education Agency administers billions of dollars in both state and federal funds that support a variety of programs to benefit public education. Funds come from multiple sources, including state and federal coffers, grant organizations, the Permanent School Fund endowment, and others. This section of the TEA website includes information pertaining to all aspects of school funding, including financial audits.

TEA releases Community and Student Engagement ratings

The Texas Education Agency today released Community and Student Engagement ratings for the state’s school districts, charters and campuses. Under House Bill 5 passed in 2013, all districts and charters are required to evaluate their performance, as well as the performance of each campus, in regard to community and student engagement. Districts must assign one of four performance ratings – Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable or Unacceptable.

Permanent School Fund becomes nation's largest educational endowment

Commissioner of Education Michael Williams and Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson announced today that the Permanent School Fund has reached a record high value in 2014, making it the largest educational endowment in the country.

 Twenty-five Texas public school nominated by the Texas Education Agency have been awarded Blue Ribbon honors for 2014.

TEA identifies 11 schools for best practice case studies project

Commissioner of Education Michael Williams announced today that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has identified 11 campuses across the state to take part in a best practices case studies project. Each of the 11 campuses were designated by TEA as High Performing and High Progress Title I Reward School.
