The conference will focus on several emerging education issues including Educational Technology ,Teacher Effectiveness, Student Achievement, School Support College Career Readiness, Educational Leadership, and Data Systems.

Principal Surveys to Evaluate Texas Educator Preparation Programs
Senate Bill 174, passed by the 81st Texas Legislature in 2009 and included in 19 TAC Chapter 229, Accountability System for Educator Preparation (ASEP) requires that principals respond to a survey.

Deadline to Apply for Certificates Scheduled for Deletion in Fall 2011  
 Educators wishing to obtain certificates that are scheduled for deletion in fall 2011, regardless of your route to certification, must meet all certification requirements by August 31, 2011.

Languages Other Than English (LOTE) EC-12 Certification Testing Now Available For Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and Vietnamese 
 The State Board for Educator Certification has approved the use of language examinations developed by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. 

Educators Must Update Their Mailing Address/Name Change 
 In accordance with the Texas Administrative Code §230.431 (c) An applicant for or holder of an educator's certificate shall provide SBEC a current United States mailing address.

Test Center Complaints 
 If you have comments about the test center or the conditions under which you took a test, please submit them in writing to ETS.

Commissioner Williams approves academic partnership agreement between Premont ISD and Texas A&M University-Kingsville

Commissioner of Education Michael L. Williams today announced he has approved a proposal presented to the Texas Education Agency in a memorandum of understanding that establishes an academic partnership between the Premont Independent School District and Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Commissioner of Education Michael L. Williams today joined representatives of Think Through Math (TTM), a Web-based math program, at a ceremony presenting a check for $11,367 to the American Red Cross West, Texas Relief Fund.

Commissioner Williams to attend first meeting of El Paso board of managers

Commissioner of Education Michael L. Williams announced today that he will attend the first formal meeting of the El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) board of managers.  The meeting, which will include an official swearing-in ceremony and selection of board officers, will take place on Tuesday, May 7, in El Paso.

Commissioner Williams visits West ISD

Commissioner Michael L. Williams today met with administrators, educators and students in the West Independent School District to assess the district’s needs for the remainder of the school year. West ISD began classes this week following a tragic explosion that devastated the community on April 17.
