T-STEM Centers partner with universities, local education agencies, businesses, and non-profit organizations to provide high quality STEM professional development and instructional materials to STEM Academies and schools interested in improving their math and science programs.
As required by ESEA, Title II, Part B, MSP and the Texas Education Agency, T-STEM Centers develop eligible partnerships with the following types of entities:
High need local education agency (those serving students where 40% or greater of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch)
An engineering, mathematics, or science department of an Institution of Higher Education
A Texas regional education service center
A T-STEM Academy
A national, state, or local business
An informal STEM institution (i.e. museum, zoo etc)
A state or local non-profit or not-for-profit organization focusing on workforce demand
Performance
- Located at education service centers or institutions of higher education
- Over 2,800 teachers supported
- Each center provides services in specialized areas of concentration such as:
- Project-based learning
- Support for English language learners
- Robotics
- Rocketry
- Biomedicine
- More than 30 T-STEM publications published
T-STEM centers submit annual performance data as required by ESEA, Title II, Part B, MSP. The Annual Performance Report (ARP) data are submitted to the US Department of Education by TEA on a yearly basis.
