The proclamation serves as notice to both publishers and the public that the State Board of Education (SBOE) is inviting bids to furnish new instructional materials. The proclamation identifies the subject areas scheduled for review in a given year, contains content requirements (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills), and provides a detailed calendar of adoption procedures.

The State Board of Education issued a Request for Supplemental Science Materials for Science grades 5-8, Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC), and Physics .
