Employers for Education Excellence

 

Employers for Education Excellence logo

The Employers for Education Excellence (EEE) award was established in 2007 by the Texas Legislature. Its purpose is to honor Texas employers who encourage and support staff participation and voluntarism in the public schools.

Any Texas employer is eligible to win the award, including private companies, nonprofit organizations, and state, local, federal and educational entities.

Current Winners

Both small and large businesses were among those recognized for their continuing support of Texas public school students. The  2013 recipients of the EEE Gold Award are: Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP), El Paso; Capital One Bank, San Antonio; City of Austin (Second Award); DATCU, Denton; Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Taylor; H-E-B, San Antonio; National Instruments, Austin; North Side Baptist Church, Weatherford; Rackspace Hosting, San Antonio; State Farm Insurance, Danny Humphreys & Andrea Walton, Red Oak; Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), Austin (Second Award). For 2013, the Silver Award winner is Shulman, Lopez & Hoffer, LLP, San Antonio. For more information, read the TEA press release announcing the 2013 award recipients.

Nominations

Nominations are accepted each year. The commissioner of education or his designee reviews the nominations and makes recommendations for the award winners. The recommendations are reviewed by the chair of the State Board of Education.

Awards are presented in the fall of each year.

Three levels of recognition

Employers are eligible to receive an award at one of three levels: bronze, silver, or gold. Eligibility is based on the business meeting the following criteria for one of the three levels:

Bronze

Awarded to an employer that implements a policy to encourage and support employees who attend parent-teacher conferences

Silver

Awarded to an employer that meets the requirements of bronze and implements a policy to encourage and support employees who volunteer in school activities

Gold

Awarded to an employer that meets the requirements of silver and implements a policy to encourage and support employees who participate in student mentoring programs in schools.
