2011-2012 Public Charter School Start-Up Grant
The following applicants have been preliminarily selected to receive a grant for the 2011-2012 Public Charter School Start-Up Grant.
The purpose of the Public Charter School Start-Up Grant program is to increase national understanding of charter schools by: (1) providing financial assistance for the planning, program design, and initial implementation of charter schools; (2) evaluating the effects of such schools, including the effects on students, student achievement, staff, and parents; and (3) expanding the number of high-quality charter schools available to students. Funds are provided to new charter schools for a period not to exceed 36 months, of which eligible subgrantees may use not more than 18 months for planning and program design, and not more than two years for the initial implementation of a charter school.
