2011-2012 Minimum Salary Schedule
State Minimum Salary Schedule for Classroom Teachers, Full-Time Librarians, Full-Time Counselors, and Full-Time Nurses (RN) (Section 21.402(a), Texas Education Code, (TEC))
The state minimum salary schedule is calculated in accordance with the provisions of TEC 21.402(a) and applies only to classroom teachers, full-time librarians, full-time counselors and full-time nurses (RN). In no instance may a school district pay classroom teachers, full-time librarians, full-time counselors or full-time nurses (RN) less than the state base salary listed for that individual's years of experience as determined by Section 153.1021 of the Texas Administrative Code, Commissioner’s Rules on Creditable Years of Service.
Section 21.402 (d) of the TEC, which required school districts to use the 2010-2011 local salary schedule as a salary base has been repealed.
Section 21.4021 of the TEC has been added to authorize furloughs and provide local board of trustees the authority to reduce furloughed employees salaries in proportion to the number of days by which the service is being reduced.
Also, Section 21.4032 of the TEC has been added to require a proportionate reduction in administrator salaries when there is a widespread reduction in classroom teacher salaries due to district financial conditions.
Section 21.401 of the TEC specifies that an educator employed under a 10-month contract must provide a minimum of 187 days of service, unless the furlough program, as stated under Section 21.4021, is implemented.
