Teacher Ethics Training

If you are already registered and have a username and password and are experiencing problems with viewing the videos, some users have been successful with the following: prior to viewing the videos, play the videos through its entirety on the computer that will be used – this sometimes allows the videos to embed the cookies onto the computer and allows the computer to remember the videos for quicker loading at a later time.
The Texas Educator Ethics Training Course has been developed by the Texas Education Agency to assist Texas Educators in identifying key ethical issues and educating them on proper and expected behaviors both inside and outside of the classroom.
Since one of the best ways to encourage positive behavior is to graphically illustrate negative behavior and show its consequences, this online course is anchored by a series of four entertaining yet informative webisodes in the comedic style of the hit television show The Office. The Campus takes participants into a fictional school where a handful of likeable but ethically-challenged teachers get entangled in ethically-treacherous situations. As the stories unfold over the four webisodes, the misfit educators learn lessons about what does and does not constitute ethical behavior. Keep in mind this is only four short modules and does not reflect all issues that can take place on or off campus; it is very important that you give as much guidance and clarity to your staff as possible to prevent any ethical violations. Even though the style of this training is in the comedic style, TEA takes these offenses very seriously.
Please note that your local district policy may be different from that used as guidance in this training course; always check with your district to find out your local policies on social media and reporting procedures, or if you feel you are in a situation that needs guidance.

Module 1 - Boundaries, approximately 25 minutes in length
Module 2 - Social Media, approximately 10 minutes in length
Module 3 - Anger Management, approximately 10 minutes in length
Module 4 - Behavior off Campus, approximately 10 minutes in length
* The purpose of this training is to make teachers aware of their actions and hold them accountable for their behavior. Make sure you keep a copy of the completed certificate in their personel files.
This training can be viewed in a group setting or individually. If viewing the content individually each teacher will need their own unique login; the district will need to set up each account. Each district or educational entity will be assigned one unique user name and password for training. It is up to the district or educational entity to assign other user names from that point.
Technical Issues:
videos looping - you will need to check with your internal IT department as this usually has to do with the internet speed of your district and the allowable use of streaming. If you will stream the training through completely this should fix the problem.

Best Practices for Teachers
Always check with your district on your local policy but the following are some best practices.
If you witness another teacher doing something unethical:
Make factual notes about what you saw
Report the behavior/actions to the principal or other immediate supervisor
The district will investigate
Recommendation: Avoid placing yourself in compromising situations.
Remember: You are required by law to report child abuse.
