DISCUSSION AND ACTION SPECIAL SESSION AGENDA

The Board will meet in open session and after determining the presence of a quorum, deliberate and possibly take formal action, including emergency action, on the following agenda items:

2. Board Response to the Sunset Advisory Commission Staff Report Recommendations Relating to the State Board for Educator Certification, Including Its Proposed Abolishment and Transfer of Its Powers and Duties to the Commissioner of Education
The Board will discuss the Sunset Advisory Commission Staff Report on the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that recommends the abolishment of the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) and transfer of its functions to the Commissioner of Education. The Board will have an opportunity to discuss and determine possible SBEC responses to that recommendation and the other Sunset staff recommendations regarding SBEC that are made in connection with Issue 8 of the Sunset Advisory Commission Staff Report.
3. Adjournment
The Board may meet in closed executive session, Texas Government Code, section 551.071 to seek legal advice regarding any item on this agenda.
