Subchapter D - Open-Enrollment Charter Guidelines, Application and Related Resources
The Nineteenth Generation Open-Enrollment Charter Guidelines and Request for Application is now available.
For an applicant to be approved by the State Board of Education to operate a Subchapter D open-enrollment charter, the applicant must qualify as an "eligible entity" as defined in Texas Education Code, §12.101. The types of entities eligible to hold a Texas open-enrollment charter are as follows:
- Institutions of higher education;
- Private or independent institutions of higher education;
- Organizations that are exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; and
- Governmental entities.
Applying for a Subchapter D Open-Enrollment Charter
Be advised that the application submission deadline for Generation 19 charters is Thursday, March 27, 2014.
Please note: An application must accurately describe an education program that is unique to the applicant. An application that plagiarizes or copies any other application will be presumed to not meet this standard.
