The English Language Arts and Reading team in the TEA Division of Curriculum provides content expertise and plans strategically while working with stakeholders implementing TEKS-based instructional programs.
ELA/Reading staff collaborates with the Division of Student Assessment in the development of state reading and writing assessments; assists the Division of Instructional Materials and Educational Technology (IMET) in overseeing the state textbook adoption process for grades K-12 ELA/Reading instructional materials; and reviews state certifications related to ELA/Reading with the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC).
Additional responsibilities include dissemination of information pertaining to dyslexia and Texas graduation requirements.

Professional Development:
Several statewide professional development courses on the ELA/R TEKS are currently available face-to-face at your ESC and online through Project Share, and new courses will be available soon.
