The Texas Education Agency (TEA) conducted a two-year Technology Literacy Assessment Pilot Program. Eligible participants were public school districts and charter schools. Through a request for proposals process, TEA selected an assessment tool for the pilot. Each school year, the assessment instrument was administered in a participating school district to each student in either fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, or ninth grade on each selected campus. The pilot began March in 2008.
School districts participating in the pilot represented several large urban, medium-sized, and small, rural districts across the state. The use of the assessment instrument, the professional development and technical support needed to use the instrument, and results of the assessment were provided to schools at no cost.
