Parent and Community Involvement of the Coordinated School Health Model
Coordinated School Health Model, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Texas school districts offer an integrated school, parent, and community approach for enhancing the health and well-being of students. School health advisory councils, coalitions, and broadly based constituencies for school health can build support for school health program efforts. Schools actively solicit parent involvement and engage community resources and services to respond more effectively to the health-related needs of students.
- School Health Advisory Council Awards The Texas Education Agency awarded grants during the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years in an effort to highlght district School Health Advisory Councils (SHACs) that go above and beyond the minimum requirements of the law.
