A: The ERCs conduct research that benefits education in Texas. Research can include:
impact of state and federal education programs
performance of educator preparation programs
public school finance
best practices in classroom instruction, bilingual education programs, special language programs, and business practices.
An initial set of research projects was approved for each ERC by a panel of educational research experts. Future research must be approved by the Joint Advisory Board.
Q: Why were only three ERCs created?
A: The 79th Texas Legislature created the ERCs through legislation included in House Bill 1 (HB1). The legislation stipulated a maximum of three ERCs.
