Q: What kinds of research do the ERCs conduct?

A: The ERCs conduct research that benefits education in Texas. Research can include:

  • impact of state and federal education programs
  • performance of educator preparation programs
  • public school finance
  • best practices in classroom instruction, bilingual education programs, special language programs, and business practices.

An initial set of research projects was approved for each ERC by a panel of educational research experts. Future research must be approved by the Joint Advisory Board.


 

Q: Why were only three ERCs created?

A: The 79th Texas Legislature created the ERCs through legislation included in House Bill 1 (HB1). The legislation stipulated a maximum of three ERCs.
