Deadline to Apply for Certificates Scheduled for Deletion in Fall 2012
Educators who wish to obtain certificates that are scheduled for deletion in fall 2012, regardless of the route to certification, must meet all certification requirements by Aug. 31, 2012. Candidates who complete all requirements on or before Aug. 31, 2012, must apply online and be recommended by a Texas educator preparation program (if appropriate) no later than October 30, 2012. These deadlines will be strictly enforced.
The certificates scheduled for deletion are based on completion of the Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES), Examinations for the Certification of Educators in Texas (ExCET) and the TExES, which will be administered for the last time in summer 2011 or the early fall 2011. These certificates have been replaced with new certificates that are based on new standards and TExES tests.
This application deadline is aligned with the information provided on the Required and Replacement Test chart.

- Secondary Latin Grades 6-12
- Speech Grades 8-12
[Special Note:] Individuals applying or being recommended after Oct. 30, 2012, will not be eligible for these certificates. They will need to meet all requirements for an appropriate new certificate.
