Commissioner's Rule Review - Guiding Questions

1.  Take time to read/review the rules prior to discussion!

2.  As a group, use the following GUIDING QUESTIONS (a. - g.) to discuss the rule:

a.  What aspects of the rule are important for:

    • Student performance/success/access
    • Educator support/accountability
    • Fairness/equity
    • Effectiveness
    • Efficiency

b.  What aspects/areas of the rule inhibit:

    • Student performance/success/access
    • Educator support/accountability
    • Fairness/equity
    • Effectiveness
    • Efficiency

c.  Are there common misconceptions or unintended consequences of the rule as written?

d.  Could the rule achieve the same ultimate goal in a more efficient/less burdensome manner?  How?

e.  Does the rule conflict with another rule/law/requirement?  If so, how could they be reconciled?

f.  Should the rule be revised or deleted?  Why?

g.  If revised, how?  Be specific.

3.  Capture the group's response on the Commissioner's Rule Review Feedback Form on the TEA website.
