TAKS Performance Standards

Student Assessment Home | Assessment A–Z Directory | Contact Student Assessment | Printing PDFs

The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) performance standards relate test performance directly to the state curriculum, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), in terms of what students are expected to learn by the completion of each grade level. The curriculum is used to establish test objectives that guide the development of test items and the assessment content. Performance standards therefore are based on the content standards for the assessment. The product of the standard setting process is a set of cut scores that classify students into an appropriate performance level.
