The primary objective of this grant program is to improve academic performance through the following program goals:
- Train school staff, parents, and community leaders to understand academic standards
- Develop and implement effective strategies to improve student performance
- Organize a large constituency of parents and community leaders who will hold the school and school district accountable for achieving high academic standards
- Engage in ongoing planning to help ensure the success of the grant program school day.
The Texas Education Agency focuses state and federal resources on identifying and replicating proven strategies for dropout prevention and recovery. The Investment Capital Fund grant provides funding for targeted academic support to address skill gaps and enrich the learning environment for students who are off-track and struggling.
Eligibility
Public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools that are in need of Training and Technical Assistance (TAT) or are rated Academically Unacceptable (AU) in the 2009 final state accountability ratings for schools were encouraged to apply.
Cycle 19 project period ended August 31, 2011.
Cycle 18 project period ended August 31, 2010.
Cycle 17 project period ended August 31, 2009. Data from the 90 campuses served revealed that 52% of the students in the schools served passed all portions of the TAKS test.
