STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION: ACTION
SUMMARY: This item provides the committee and the State Board of Education (SBOE) an opportunity to make decisions on legislative recommendations to the 82nd Texas Legislature.
STATUTORY AUTHORITY: Texas Education Code (TEC), §7.102(c)(1).
PREVIOUS BOARD ACTION: None.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND SIGNIFICANT ISSUES: In preparation for each legislative session, the board adopts recommendations for legislative action which are designed to improve the public education system of Texas. A handout compiling the board members' priority issues will be provided at the meeting.
FISCAL IMPACT: Fiscal implications will be determined based on actions taken in respect to the legislative recommendations.
PUBLIC AND STUDENT BENEFIT: If enacted, these legislative initiatives would help improve student performance.
PROCEDURAL AND REPORTING IMPLICATIONS: None.
PUBLIC COMMENTS: None.
ALTERNATIVES: None.
OTHER COMMENTS AND RELATED ISSUES: Any recommendations for revisions to the academic excellence indicators under the Texas Education Code §39.051(a) should be addressed in the board’s legislative recommendations.

Adoption of the State Board of Education's legislative recommendations to the 82nd Texas Legislature.
