January 2010 Summary of Commissioner Rule Actions

 

1. Adopted Revisions to 19 TAC Chapter 102, Educational Programs, Subchapter BB, Commissioner's Rules Concerning Master Teacher Grant Programs

Effective Date: February 15, 2010.

Revised 19 TAC Chapter 102, Educational Programs, Subchapter BB, Commissioner's Rules Concerning Master Teacher Grant Programs, was filed as adopted with the Texas Register under the commissioner's rulemaking authority on January 26, 2010.

The adopted amendments include an increase in the number of master teacher stipends an eligible campus can receive from two to three per campus for each subject area. Adopted new §102.1017 establishes in rule a grant program for master technology teachers. The revisions were adopted with no changes from what was published as proposed.

2. Adopted Revisions to 19 TAC Chapter 150, Commissioner's Rules Concerning Educator Appraisal, Subchapter AA, Teacher Appraisal

Effective Date: February 17, 2010.

Revised 19 TAC Chapter 150, Commissioner's Rules Concerning Educator Appraisal, Subchapter AA, Teacher Appraisal, was filed as adopted with the Texas Register under the commissioner's rulemaking authority on January 28, 2010.

The revisions update and clarify provisions relating to the Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS). The revisions were adopted with and without changes from what was published as proposed.
