TO THE ADMINISTRATOR ADDRESSED:
Statewide accountability advisory committees have worked with Texas Education Agency (TEA) staff since March to develop proposals for new accountability ratings and distinction designations as required by House Bill 3 (81st Texas Legislature, 2009). The meeting materials from each advisory committee meeting have been posted online at the 2013 Accountability Development site to provide educators and the public with the most current information about the development of the new accountability system.
The purpose of this correspondence is to invite educators to review and comment on the current proposal for the new rating system. Consideration of educator feedback is critical to the development of a fair and comprehensive accountability system.
Note that all meeting materials are marked FOR DISCUSSION to indicate they do not describe final decisions by the Commissioner of Education about the rating system. As outlined in the attached materials, the commissioner will make final accountability decisions on the new accountability system by the end of March 2013. Please provide any comments or feedback about this proposal by January 18, 2013, so that the Commissioner of Education can consider your comments before making final decisions.
If you have any questions, please contact the Division of Performance Reporting at (512) 463-9704 or via electronic mail at Performance.Reporting@tea.state.tx.us.
