The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills–Modified (TAKS–M) is an alternate assessment based on modified academic achievement standards designed for students who meet participation requirements and who are receiving special education services.  According to federal regulations, all students, including those receiving special education services, will be assessed on grade-level curriculum. TAKS–M covers the same grade-level content as TAKS, but TAKS–M tests have been changed in format (e.g., larger font, fewer items per page) and test design (e.g., fewer answer choices, simpler vocabulary and sentence structure). For the 2012–2013 school year, TAKS–M will be available only for students who are enrolled in grade 11.

For students taking STAAR Modified, visit the STAAR Modified Resources webpage.
