Texas Government Code, §2001.039, established a four-year rule review cycle for all state agency rules, including commissioner of education rules. The rule review is designed to ensure that "the reason for adopting or readopting the rule continues to exist." In accordance with statute, the Texas Education Agency filed the rule review plan with the Texas Register in February 2009. Updates to the plan were filed in November 2009, January 2011, and December 2011. It only includes rules currently in effect at the time the plan was filed. Future changes to the plan will be available here. Please note that amendments to rules specified in the plan may be proposed at different dates through a separate rulemaking process.
