The Rural and Low-Income Schools Program (RLISP) provides discretionary funds to rural low-income schools and helps them to meet adequate yearly progress (AYP). Formula grants are awarded to the state, which in turn awards subgrants to eligible school districts. Funds received under the Rural and Low-Income School Program may be used for teacher recruitment and retention, teacher professional development, educational technology, etc.
