Best Practices Clearinghouse adds 16 new schools

AUSTIN—Sixteen new schools or districts were added to the Best Practices Clearinghouse, a Web page which features examples of schools that demonstrate consistent high academic achievement, improvement in student performance, and/or outstanding campus and district operations, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced today.
Of these new additions, six are U.S. Blue Ribbon Schools and one is the 2008 winner of the Broad Prize for Urban Education.
Best practices are collected from public schools, districts and charter schools across Texas in the areas of instruction, dropout prevention and recovery, college and career readiness, English language learners, and business/management.
The best practice designation is based on a research-based framework in which campuses and districts have: identified an area for improvement; researched and implemented an intervention; and analyzed pre-post and trend data to evaluate and document the intervention’s effectiveness.
Schools included as examples in the Best Practices Clearinghouse are selected by TEA. In addition, schools may submit their best practices for consideration. Information on how to submit can be found online at http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/bestprac/bpc_submit.html.
