STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION: NO ACTION
SUMMARY: This item provides an opportunity for the committee to discuss and receive training about parliamentary procedures.
BOARD RESPONSE: Board members will increase their understanding of parliamentary procedures.
PREVIOUS BOARD ACTION: The board adopted operating procedures on November 20, 2009.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND SIGNIFICANT ISSUES: A certified parliamentarian assists the Committee of the Full Board and the State Board of Education in its meeting to ensure that the committee or board follow the board’s operating rules as well as Robert’s Rules of Order.
PROCEDURAL AND REPORTING IMPLICATIONS: Training and clarification of procedures will allow board meetings to operate in a smooth and orderly fashion.
