Student art exhibit features work from PTA "Reflections" program
and 3-D work from Houston Independent School District
AUSTIN— Artwork from more than 100 students across Texas is on display at the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Commission on the Arts, and the Legislative Budget Board featuring visual arts from the Texas PTA’s "Reflections" program and 3-D art from the Houston Independent School District’s architectural magnet program, Scarborough High School.
This latest student art exhibit will be on display through June 21.
TEA and the art commission work together to stage four to six student art exhibits each year as part of an effort to highlight the arts in Texas public schools.
The agencies have hosted an exhibit featuring award-winning pieces from the annual PTA "Reflections" contest each year since 1997. This year’s theme for the PTA work is "I can make a difference by…"
The works from Scarborough High School portray intricate miniature depictions of New Orleans during mardi gras, the Orange County airport and residential communities.
The student artwork on display is available for public viewing from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The William B. Travis State Office Building, headquarters for the TEA, is located at 1701 N. Congress Ave. in Austin. The artwork is displayed on the building's first floor. The Texas Commission on the Arts is located at 920 Colorado on the fifth floor of the E. O. Thompson State Office Building. And the Legislative Budget Board is located on the third floor of the Robert E. Johnson State Office Building at 1501 N. Congress Ave.
