SBOE awards eight new charters
AUSTIN - Eight new charter schools were approved by the State Board of Education today. The new public charters are expected to open during the 2012-2013 school year.
Thirty-two groups submitted charter applications for consideration. Fifteen of those were judged to have both a complete application and earned a score of 225 out of a possible 300 points during a review process. Those 15 applicants were interviewed by the board’s Committee on School Initiatives in August.
