School transportation funding, known as the transportation allotment, is part of overall Foundation School Program (FSP) funding. It is included as a separate line item on a school district's state aid report, known as the Summary of Finances report. Districts report transportation data to the agency through the web-based FSP System.

Statement of Commissioner Michael Williams regarding potential federal preschool expansion grant application

 On Sept. 10, 2014, the Texas Education Agency notified the U.S. Department of Education of its intent to submit an application for a federal preschool expansion grant. Commissioner of Education Michael Williams issued the following statement today regarding the application process: “Over the course of the next several weeks, agency staff will be working to design a proposal that clearly defines how our state would utilize those federal dollars..."

TEA to apply for federal preschool expansion grant

 Commissioner of Education Michael Williams notified the U.S. Department of Education that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) will submit an application for a federal preschool expansion grant.  The grant could be valued at as much as $30 million per year for four years.
