The Texas public school system is a $46 billion a year enterprise. Running a school district requires superintendents to operate one of the largest, if not the largest, business in their community. This website attempts to provide administrators with easy access to information they need to successfully carry out their duties.

SBOE now accepting nominations for outstanding school volunteers

The State Board of Education is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Heroes for Children Award.This annual award recognizes public school volunteers who have been strong advocates for Texas schoolchildren.

Thirteen named to Expanded Learning Opportunities Council

  Commissioner of Education Michael Williams has announced the names of 13 individuals to serve as the first members of the Expanded Learning Opportunities Council to study issues related to expanded learning opportunities (such as implementing an extended school day or school year) and review structured programs outside of the regular school day (such as before- and after-school programs and summer programs).
