Teachers

Texas public schools employ more than 320,000 teachers plus about 70,000 additional professional staff members such as principals, central office administrators and others. The Texas Education Agency provides a wide array of services that help educators do their jobs. Those functions include accrediting educator certification programs, issuing teaching certificates, distributing curriculum standards and textbooks and providing standardized student tests. This web portal attempts to bring together information educators need to function effectively and efficiently as they work with the state’s 4.7 million students.

TEA releases Community and Student Engagement ratings

The Texas Education Agency today released Community and Student Engagement ratings for the state’s school districts, charters and campuses. Under House Bill 5 passed in 2013, all districts and charters are required to evaluate their performance, as well as the performance of each campus, in regard to community and student engagement. Districts must assign one of four performance ratings – Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable or Unacceptable.

Permanent School Fund becomes nation's largest educational endowment

Commissioner of Education Michael Williams and Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson announced today that the Permanent School Fund has reached a record high value in 2014, making it the largest educational endowment in the country.

25 Texas schools receive 2014 national Blue Ribbon honors

 Twenty-five Texas public school nominated by the Texas Education Agency have been awarded Blue Ribbon honors for 2014.

TEA identifies 11 schools for best practice case studies project

Commissioner of Education Michael Williams announced today that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has identified 11 campuses across the state to take part in a best practices case studies project. Each of the 11 campuses were designated by TEA as High Performing and High Progress Title I Reward School.
