Visit the STAAR Modified Resources webpageAdmission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committees are required to use the participation requirements to determine if the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness Modified (STAAR™ Modified) is the appropriate assessment for a student.

The participation requirements have been revised for the 2012-2013 school year; however, there are no policy or process changes.  Steps I and II now include specific statutory references and Steps II and III include STAAR Modified World History (administered for the first time in spring 2013). ARD committees should use this updated form when making assessment decisions. If the ARD committee has already made decisions about 2012-2013 statewide testing, there is no need to reconvene in order to use the most updated 2012-2013 STAAR Modified Participation Requirements. Make sure, though, that the most updated form is completed at the next regularly scheduled ARD meeting.

The participation requirements have also been posted for the 2013-2014 school year. Steps II and III include STAAR Modified U.S. History and English III (administered for the first time in spring 2014). In addition, beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, the STAAR Modified Participation Requirements form will be a required part of the IEP. The ARD committee must use this form when determining STAAR Modified as an assessment decision for the 2013-2014 school year.
