TAKS TPM Reporting Changes for 2010–2011

For 2010–2011, reporting of TPM for TAKS will change from the reporting in 2009–2010 in the following ways:

  • For the individual level reporting (i.e., Confidential Student Report and Confidential Student Report—Texas Projection Measure [online]), the TPM projections will be reported only at grades 9 and 10.
  • The Texas Projection Measure summary reports will be created and printed only for grades 9 and 10.

These changes are made because the grades 3–8 students in 2010–2011 will take the STAAR assessments, instead of TAKS, starting in 2011–2012, and the projected scores based on the TAKS scoring system cannot be compared with the STAAR performance standards. The grades 9 and 10 students in 2010– 2011, however, will take TAKS assessments in subsequent years to meet their graduation requirements.

The student data files will include the TPM information—the projected TPM scores and the TPM indicators that specify whether or not a student is projected to meet standard or achieve commended performance in the projection grade (grade 5, 7 [only writing], 8, or 11) and subject—for all grades 3–10 students for whom such information is available. The TPM calculator will be available for all of these students as well. Please note, however, that the students who are currently in grades 3–8 will not have TAKS scores to compare with their projected scores when they are in the projection grades.

In 2011, the decision has been made that TPM will NOT be used in either state or federal accountability systems. For more information about 2011 state and federal accountability decisions, please refer to 2011 Accountability Rating System.
